Fences built on site, board by board, for Vancouver weather.

Custom Western Red Cedar is what we are known for. We also build vinyl, composite, aluminum and chain link when that is the right fence for the job. Every fence is built in place to fit your ground, not bolted together from store panels.

  • Built in placeWe set every post and cut every board on site so the fence follows your ground and your property line.
  • Cedar firstWestern Red Cedar resists rot and insects on its own and looks right in a Vancouver yard.
  • Gates that stay squareGates get a proper frame and hardware so they still swing true in five years.

Cedar privacy fences

The classic. Vertical cedar boards on a cedar frame, 5 or 6 feet high, with a flat top, a lattice top or a cap rail. We can build it tight for full privacy or leave a small gap for air and light.

Left alone, cedar weathers to a soft grey. Stained, it holds its warm colour. Either way it is the fence most people picture when they think of a Vancouver backyard, and it is the one we build most.

Horizontal cedar fences

Clean lines, modern look. Horizontal boards need a stronger frame and closer post spacing to stay straight, and we build them that way from the start. Good for side yards, front yards and anywhere the fence is part of the view.

Composite, vinyl, aluminum and chain link

Not every yard wants wood. Composite fencing gives you a wood look with no staining. Vinyl is the lowest-maintenance privacy fence there is. Aluminum suits pool areas and front yards where you want to see through. Chain link is the practical choice for commercial lots and side yards on a budget.

We will tell you plainly which one fits your yard, your budget and how much upkeep you want to do. Compare the materials here.

Gates

Single gates, double gates and driveway gates, built to match the fence. The frame, the hinges and the latch are where cheap gates fail, so we do not cut corners there. More on gates.

Questions we get asked

How long does a fence take to build?

Most residential fences take one to three days on site once materials are in. We give you a start date and a finish date in the quote.

Do I need a permit for a fence in Vancouver?

Usually not for a standard fence, but every city sets its own height limits, often 4 feet in the front yard and 6 feet in the back. We check the rules for your city and lot before we quote, and we tell you if anything needs approval.

Cedar or vinyl, which lasts longer?

Both last a long time when they are built properly. Cedar can be stained or left to silver, and it can be repaired board by board. Vinyl needs no finishing and washes clean, but panels are replaced as a unit. We will tell you honestly which suits your yard and budget.

Do you take down the old fence?

Yes. Removal and disposal of the old fence is part of the quote, and we leave the site clean every day.

What about the neighbour?

Shared fences go better when everyone knows the plan. We can build a good-neighbour style that looks the same from both sides, and we are happy to talk to your neighbour about the line and the look.
